ConAgra to cut Sodium in Their Foods

October 16, 2009| By

There has been a lot of discussion lately about how the average American is eating fat too much salt.  It’s not surprising when you consider how much process foods Americans eat.

Do you know that Mother Nature does include sodium in her produce?  However, what comes in foods naturally is never at the levels food manufacturers need to use,  not only for food preservation but for taste.

With the push by consumer groups to lower the overall sodium intake in the United States, ConAgra has agreed to cut the sodium in their products by 20% by the year 2015.   Let’s give them and other food manufacturers a thumbs-up for trying to make our food healthier.

But the consumer has to also play a part in this.  Consumers have to train their taste buds to want less sodium.  In turn, we need to become more aware of the other flavors in a food that should make that food delicious.
