Red pepper flakes and paprika have similar levels of antioxidants. If you don’t like the heat of cayenne, use paprika instead.  Don’t be shy with it.  Enjoy it on egg dishes, vegetables, casseroles.  Most meat rubs contain paprika or red pepper flakes.

Cinnamon is full of antioxidants.  Sprinkle it on cereal, your coffee, vegetables, desserts. Put it in a shaker like you do with salt and start sprinkling.

Adding such flavorings as oregano, allspice and garlic oils not only boosts the flavor factor in food but may be natural barriers to E. coli and salmonella.

Maybe we should start thinking not only about taste but the healthy benefits of what makes our food flavorful.
